Alters
In the Bible and spiritual teachings, demonic altars refer to places of sacrifice, dedication, or worship that are opposed to God’s will, used to establish covenants with demonic forces. These altars can be physical or spiritual, serving as points of access for dark spiritual influences. Below are different types of demonic altars and their biblical connections:
1. Altars of Witchcraft & Sorcery
Purpose: Used for divination, manipulation, curses, and control over people.
Biblical Example:
- Balaam’s Altars (Numbers 22–24) – Balaam was hired by Balak to curse Israel, using seven altars in an attempt to manipulate God.
- The Witch of Endor (1 Samuel 28:7-19) – King Saul sought a medium to summon Samuel’s spirit, breaking God’s law (Deuteronomy 18:10-12).
🔹 Modern Connection: Witchcraft practices, occult rituals, and sacrifices used to control or influence others against their will.
2. Altars of Blood Sacrifice & Human Sacrifice
Purpose: Used to empower demons through innocent bloodshed.
Biblical Example:
- Child Sacrifice to Molech (Leviticus 18:21, 2 Kings 23:10) – Israelites were warned against sacrificing children to false gods.
- Baal Worship (1 Kings 18:26-28) – Prophets of Baal cut themselves as part of their rituals.
🔹 Modern Connection: Ritual killings, abortion used in occultic sacrifices, and blood pacts made for wealth or power.
3. Altars of Sexual Perversion
Purpose: Used to corrupt and defile individuals and communities through immorality.
Biblical Example:
- Temple Prostitution (1 Kings 14:23-24) – Pagan altars included prostitution as part of idol worship.
- Sodom & Gomorrah (Genesis 19:4-11) – The city was given over to sexual immorality, leading to its destruction.
🔹 Modern Connection: Pornography, sexual rituals, and perverse lifestyles that defile God’s design for purity and holiness.
4. Altars of False Religion & Idolatry
Purpose: Used to lead people away from God through deception and counterfeit worship.
Biblical Example:
- Golden Calf Worship (Exodus 32:1-8) – The Israelites built a false altar to worship an idol, breaking God’s covenant.
- Jeroboam’s False Altar (1 Kings 12:26-33) – He set up two golden calves to turn people away from God.
🔹 Modern Connection: New Age practices, Freemasonry, Islam, Hinduism, and other false religious systems leading people away from Christ.
5. Altars of Affliction, Poverty, & Suffering
Purpose: Used to bind people into generational curses, hardship, and oppression.
Biblical Example:
- Gideon’s Father’s Altar to Baal (Judges 6:25-27) – Gideon had to destroy his father’s demonic altar before he could be used by God.
- Pharaoh’s Bondage Over Israel (Exodus 1:11-14) – Egyptian oppression was spiritually fueled to enslave God’s people.
🔹 Modern Connection: Generational curses, ancestral covenants, financial struggles, and repeated misfortunes tied to demonic influences.
6. Altars of Death & Premature Death
Purpose: Used to bring untimely death, accidents, and destruction.
Biblical Example:
- Jezebel’s Altar of Murder (1 Kings 18:4, 19:1-2) – Jezebel killed the prophets of God to establish Baal worship.
- Herod’s Massacre of Innocents (Matthew 2:16) – He slaughtered children to prevent the coming of Christ.
🔹 Modern Connection: Unexplained deaths, family members dying at a certain age, generational patterns of premature death.
How to Destroy Demonic Altars
- Repentance & Renunciation – Confess any known sin or family iniquity linked to demonic altars (1 John 1:9).
- Breaking Evil Covenants – Renounce and reject any bloodline curses or agreements with darkness (Colossians 2:14-15).
- Destroying Altars Through Prayer & Fasting – Engage in warfare prayers (Matthew 17:21).
- Erecting a Righteous Altar – Establish a personal altar of worship, prayer, and sacrifice to God (Romans 12:1).
- Covering Yourself with the Blood of Jesus – The blood of Jesus is the ultimate sacrifice that overcomes every demonic power (Revelation 12:11).
Conclusion
Demonic altars operate as spiritual gateways for destruction, but through Christ, believers have authority to tear down these altars and walk in victory (Luke 10:19).
