• Born of a Virgin:
    • Isaiah 7:14: “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.”  
  • Born in Bethlehem:
    • Micah 5:2: “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.”  
  • Descendant of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob:
    • Genesis 12:3, 21:12, 28:14: God’s covenant promises that through their lineage, all nations would be blessed. This is seen by Christians as fulfilled through Jesus’s lineage.
  • Descendant of David:
    • 2 Samuel 7:12-16: God’s promise to David that his throne would endure forever. This is understood by Christians as a messianic prophecy fulfilled in Jesus.

Prophecies Regarding Jesus’ Ministry and Actions:

  • Prophet Like Moses:
    • Deuteronomy 18:15, 18: “The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own brothers. You must listen to him.”  
  • Anointed by the Holy Spirit:
    • Isaiah 11:2, 61:1: “The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.”  
  • Performing Miracles:
    • Isaiah 35:5-6: “Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the mute tongue shout for joy.”  
  • Speaking in Parables:
    • Psalm 78:2 “I will open my mouth with parables; I will utter hidden things, things from of old”

Prophecies Regarding Jesus’ Suffering and Death:

  • Betrayed for 30 Pieces of Silver:
    • Zechariah 11:12-13: “So they paid me my wages, thirty shekels of silver. And the Lord said to me, ‘Throw it to the potter’—the handsome price at which they valued me! So I took the thirty shekels of silver and threw them into the house of the Lord to the potter.”  
  • Silent Before His Accusers:
    • Isaiah 53:7: “He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.”  
  • Pierced Hands and Feet:
    • Psalm 22:16: “Dogs surround me, a pack of villains encircles me; they pierce my hands and my feet.”
  • Dividing His Garments and Casting Lots:
    • Psalm 22:18: “They divide my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment.”
  • Buried with the Rich:
    • Isaiah 53:9 “He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth.”  
  • Suffering for Sins:
    • Isaiah 53:5 “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”  

Prophecies Regarding Jesus’ Resurrection and Ascension:

Psalm 68:18 “When you ascended on high, you took captives; you received gifts from people, even from the rebellious— that you, Lord God, might dwell among them.”

Resurrection:

Psalm 16:10 “because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay.”

Ascension:
